Elon Musk’s xAI launched its latest AI Model, Grok 3, on Monday, February 17, 2025, intended to compete with other advanced AI models such as OpenAI – GPT-4o, Google- Gemini 2 pro, and DeepSeek R1. At the launch event, the xAI team showcased some of Grok 3’s advanced reasoning capabilities, claiming superiority over its predecessors. They also claimed that in an early iteration of Grok 3 has received better ratings than existing competitors on Chatbot Arena.Musk refers to Grok3 as “Scary Smart”, the main focus of Grok is to understand the universe and be a “maximally truth-seeking AI“

Computational Power:
Grok-3 has more than ten times the computational capability than Grok 2. xAI used Colossus supercomputer that has utilized 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs to provide 200 million GPU-hours for the training of Grok3.
Performance:
In its launch event, xAI has presented a lot of benchmarks where Grok 3 reportedly outperforms Gemini 2 Pro, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, GPT 4o, and DeepSeek V3 in Math, Science, and coding. The xAI team also claimed that the initial versions of Grok 3 received higher ratings than its competitors on Chatbot Arena.
DeepSearch:
Grok-3 includes DeepSearch, a smart search engine that explains its reasoning process, and how it understands queries and formulates responses, designed to help researchers, engineers, and scientists to do coding and provide in-depth analysis of the questions related to science, coding, and maths.
Training and Improvements:
Grok-3 utilized synthetic datasets during training, which enabled the model to adjust its outputs for logical consistency. It also incorporated self-correction mechanisms so that the model can avoid errors and reduce “hallucinations“, which are common in some AI chatbots. Reinforcement learning further improved its reasoning capabilities.Musk mentioned that the models are continually improving, with updates occurring as frequently as every 24 hours.

Grok-3 is available to Premium+ subscribers on X starting from Tuesday. xAI is also launching a Super Grok subscription for dedicated users seeking the most advanced features and early access to updates on the Grok app and website.

Grok-3 can design games, demonstrated by its creation of a game combining Tetris and Puyo Puyo.
