In a recent event at CES 2025, McAfee, a global online protection leader, unveiled two ground-breaking AI-powered tools—the McAfee Scam Detector and the McAfee Deepfake Detector—to enhance cybersecurity. In this era of increasingly evolving and sophisticated digital scams and deepfakes, these tools will empower users by providing them with advanced protection against digital threats.
Scam Detector:
With the ease of access to AI tools and the rise of deepfakes, Scammers are now more intelligent and convincing in their tactics. Scam detector is developed to proactively shield users from fraudulent messages, dubious emails, and deceptive videos. The tool leverages artificial intelligence to analyze and flag potential risky messages in real time and alert users to potential threats.
It monitors the user’s inbox for suspicious emails and flags them as risky before they open them. Similarly, it flags text messages as risky so that users will not click any suspicious links. It also provides clarification as to why an email or message is suspicious. This feature will empower users to understand and recognize tactics used by scammers. By spring 2025, scam detectors will be included as part of all McAfee +, McAfee Total Protection, and McAfee LiveSafe plans. It will not charge an extra cost for existing McAfee customers.

Deepfake Detector:
Scammers are using AI technology to scam people by pretending to be someone else with Deepfake AI videos and audio. To protect individuals from being deceived by these highly convincing and sophisticated scams, McAfee has developed a Deepfake detector by partnering with AMD. It harnesses the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) within the latest AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series processors. The technology is specially designed to detect whether the videos or audio are AI-generated. It operates primarily on-device using advanced AI processing, which enhances privacy and speed compared to cloud-based solutions. It alerts users if they encounter any AI-generated video without any need to upload videos manually.
As per company, soon deepfake detectors will be available in more languages, such as French, German, and Japanese. The technology will work smoothly on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops, whichever device the user prefers.
🚫 Say goodbye to deepfake scams. McAfee Deepfake Detector works across your devices to help you identify what’s real and what’s deepfake.
